The Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain-Africa (CARISCA) is an innovative partnership between ASU and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) that works to strengthen local capacity for improved supply chains in Ghana and throughout Africa. CARISCA aims to establish KNUST as Africa’s preeminent source of supply chain management expertise, serving as a resource for driving supply chain research and innovation; training supply chain management professionals; and engaging Ghanaian and African companies through projects and consulting.
Achieving inclusion and impact for women in supply chain education, research and practice is a key focus throughout CARISCA’s work. The project draws on the multidisciplinary expertise of ASU’s top-ranked Department of Supply Chain Management, as well as ASU’s regular convening of global supply chain players through the Frontier Economies Logistics Lab. ASU works closely with KNUST to build CARISCA as a globally recognized, locally owned hub for improving supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. KNUST’s leadership of CARISCA enables the center to co-create locally relevant solutions with its more than a dozen enterprise partners with large operations in healthcare and agriculture—leading to tangible business solutions that have real-world development impact.
