The Center of Excellence for Energy aims to advance Egypt’s energy transition and help achieve the target of 42% renewable energy utilization by 2035.
Primed by ASU and implemented in close partnership with three Egyptian partner universities, the center collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders including Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Petroleum, and public and private energy companies, investors and organizations.
The center focuses on enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions, fostering innovation, modernization and competition in the energy sector. It advances evidence-based policymaking, strengthens university capacity for high-quality applied research, collaboratively advances development of new energy-related curricula and teaching methods, and trains Egypt’s energy workforce.
The center also supports the development of energy programs and workshops, establishment of research facilities, funding for research projects, and academic exchange programs.
